Matt & Gretchen's Groom's Dinner 10/1/2004
The groom's dinner was held in the small dining room at the Crawford
Notch Highland center. It was a tad on the small side for the 30-some
people we had there, but it worked out fine, if a bit on the loud
side.
Judy Explains the Nalgenes
The guest-favors were Nalgenes created by Gretchen's parents Judy and
Bill Braham. They sported a wedding sticker on the side, and various
treats on the inside including a New Hampshire quarter minted at the
Denver mint.
Groom's dinner tables
To break the ice, folks were supposed to sit with their nalgene color,
which mixed things up a bit
da leaf
The leaf has a long story behind the short presentation. It was a
retirement gift for my grandfather Burton B. Knapp Sr, who was a
metallurgist for International Nickel. Somehow he figured out how to
nickel electro-plate a maple leaf, most of which were given to members
of the company board (a Canadian company, hence the Maple leaf bit),
and the last given to him on retirement. I had long had my eye on the
leaf and asked that, whenever it was no longer wanted, that it be
passed my way. Thank you Grandma!
singing
There's no real piano at Highland Center, so we had to make do with a
rental electric keyboard, but Peter made a goodly amount of noise
anyway pounding out the show tunes.
