Torreys on a Thursday Night, July 21 2005
It had been just miserably hot in Denver for over a week, a new record
high temperature almost daily, and the moon was full. What better
reasons for climbing Torrey's peak after work? Temperature dropped
quickly as we drove through light T-storms on the way to the
trailhead, and there was much gnashing of teeth as we realized too
late that we should be packing a tent and sleeping at the trail head.
Ah well, hike was very nice, as were the temperatures. Some mountain
goats werew hanging out near the top, and were not shy about posing
for the camear. Short dinner on top enjoying sunset, and then a good
glissade on the last bits of snow on the way out. 4 Hours round trip,
and then back to the sauna after a nice break in the hills.
