Loveland Full Moon Night Ski, 1/25/05
Steve, Gretchen, Steve's Cousin Mike, not Dale, and I headed up to
Loveland Tuesday night to enjoy the full moon in tele-style. (Well,
Mike has an alpine handicap, but we let him come anyway). The moon
light was *awesome* Very strong shadows, plenty of light, hell, we
were skiing bumps! We skinned up more or less underneath chair 2, and
stopped at the top of chair 2,where it was a bit on the nippy side
with a bit of a breeze. After kicking around playing with the camera
for a few minutes I tried the door on the chair operators hut - it was
OPEN and it was HEATED! Score!! Heck, they even had a microwave and a
radio in there. Next time we'll bring the popcorn and peppermint
schnaps and have a party! Of course, next time, they'll remember to
lock it.
The snow wasn't great, but it was good enough, we skied down to
Midway, skinned back up, hung out in the hut again for a while, and
then, despite urges to take one more run, skied out figuring that was
late enough on a work night. There was even enough light to take some
came out ok, a bit dark of course, although they looked lighter on the LCD on the camera, will have to remember that next time
Back in the parking lot we were packing up when a car came over to check us out. It was the night security guy, who seemed to be not at all surprised to find some tele folks skinning up during a full moon. So he introduced us to his pet wolf and drove off again.
